The situation

An overseas parent company had acquired five Australian lifting and rigging businesses and merged them into a single operation. Each had its own ERP — MYOB Exo, Sin 7, and MYOB — and its own way of working. The combined entity needed to consolidate onto Microsoft Business Central.

The technical challenge was significant: three different platforms to migrate, with disparate chart of accounts, vendor and customer records, inventory data, and fixed assets. But the bigger challenge was people — five finance teams needed to become one, and 60+ staff in sales and warehousing needed to learn a completely new system.

What we did

Finance solution design: Designed the General Ledger structure and Asset Register configuration, with architectural decisions to ensure the system would scale and meet global financial reporting requirements.

Master data: Owned the master data approach across finance — data architecture, cleansing records from three source systems, migration of GL accounts, vendors, customers, and inventory, and reconciled opening balances for audit-ready reporting.

Training that met people where they were: Time was spent understanding how each branch operated — their specific processes, pain points, and workflows. Training showed staff how to do their actual jobs in the new system, not just how to use the system in theory.

Change management: Supported the human side of the transition, helping establish shared processes as five finance teams became one.

Testing and hypercare: Developed and executed test plans including UAT, managed defect resolution, and provided hands-on support through cutover and the critical early weeks.

The result

The consolidation delivered a single source of truth for finance, with clean, reconciled records and consistent processes across all branches. Key improvements included audit-ready consolidated financial records, a unified finance operating model, strong user adoption, and improved governance through structured UAT and hypercare.

This implementation laid the foundation for subsequent pricing and data quality initiatives with the same client.
