Following a successful ERP implementation, the client’s new system was only as good as the data it received. Across five manufacturing plants and more than twenty customer sites, staff tracked everything in spreadsheets — each site with its own format. Administration staff then keyed this data into the ERP, meaning some transactions did not appear until month-end.
Operationally, executives had limited visibility into current activity. Strategically, the company had no reliable way to consolidate demand across its network — the ERP could not handle the complexity of a two-stage manufacturing process.
Designing the integration: Waypost worked alongside Arrowtail to connect their site operations platform to Pronto. Waypost led API design and scope, defining how transactions would flow automatically. A key element was the procurement mapping layer that allowed site staff to record receipts without needing purchase order numbers.
Creating demand visibility: Waypost designed and built an S&OP model that gave the business end-to-end visibility for the first time. The model brought together demand signals from across the network, exploded bills of materials to determine raw material requirements, and referenced source-of-supply tables to route demand appropriately through the two-stage manufacturing process.
Transactions that previously took weeks now arrived within hours. Error rates at go-live were below 1%. Three FTE previously dedicated to manual data entry were redeployed to higher-value work.
Month-end reconciliation shifted back to the sites, driving proactive investigation during the month rather than a reactive scramble at close. The S&OP model gave supply chain and executive teams a consolidated view of demand across the entire network, with materials requirements traced through both manufacturing stages.
The model remains in use today, and Arrowtail is developing the design into its core platform.
